Nyko Technologies introduced a new series of controllers and peripherals for the Nintendo Wii this week at CES, including a competitive alternative to Nintendo's own Wii Zapper.
Nyko's Perfect Shot is a pistol-shaped controller with a spring-loaded trigger and rubber grip that's designed for shooter titles such as Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. The Perfect Shot uses the Wii Remote the same way the Wii Zapper does; gamers simply slide the existing Wii Remote into a port on the top of the controller. Nyko marketing associate Bernard Hoang said the company designed the Perfect Shot for gamers that were unhappy with the Wii Zapper and wanted a traditional one-handed controller for shooter action that was more comfortable with a better ergonomic design. The Nyko Perfect Shot is available now for $14.99.
Even better for Wii owners, perhaps, is the Wireless Wii Nunchuk controller. The product comes in two parts - a Nyko made Wii Nunchuk controller that requires two AA batteries, and a small receiver that connects at the base of the Wii Remote. Thus, there's no need for the cord of the original Wii Nunchuk. While the controller is heavier than the original Nunchuk because of the batteries, it certainly adds convenience for gamers that have come to loathe the pesky connecting cord. The Wireless Wii Nunchuk will be available in about a month for $29.99.
The two products compliment Nyko's popular Wii series, which includes the Wii Charge Station and the Wireless Wii Sensor Bar. Nyko also announced the Wii Net Connect, which allows gamers to connect their Wii without a wireless connection. The Net Connect requires a Cat5 Ethernet cable and can be easily connected from the Wii's USB port to the gamers' existing home network. The Net Connect is available now for $24.99.
