It's All About Good Material

Certainly Dark Horse is well known for its licensed properties and moving forward into its 21st years of existence that is likely to continue. Dark Horse will expand upon its original content as well.

"We're always on the lookout for good material," Stradley said emphatically. "But we're also careful about what we go after."

It's a problem of oversupply in the comic book market place. Simply put, Stradley thinks that there are more comics currently in the market than the market can support.

"And the really sad part of that is that there are more good comics now than at any time in history," Stradley commented. "There's a lot of expansion thanks to graphic novel and manga sales in bookstores, but it doesn't mean that we can always publish whatever we want."

Going back to Stradley's golden rule for Dark Horse's success however, it's important to remember that it's all about the readers and keeping them entertained. To that end, Dark Horse has got plenty of ideas in the pipeline.

"We've got titles in the works that we're excited about," Stradley said. "Rick Remender's "Fear Agent" has come to Dark Horse, we just launched "Outer Orbit" by Sean Murphy and Zach Howard, Arvid Nelson's "Rex Mundi" and we're set to announce several other original series."

Stradley said Dark Horse also "has some 'old' licensed properties, which we're going to breathe new life into." "You'll begin hearing about some of these new projects very soon," he said. "There's a ton of stuff left to be done."

Isn't that always the case when you're 21?
