Interview with the Brains Behind Auto Assault

Introduction

Geek Woman continues to track down women in the gaming industry in hopes of introducing young women to the game developer job market. Today she catches up with the very busy lady Christine Brownell who is a developer for NetDevil and is busy at work on the new MMOG Auto Assault.

Tell us how you got started in gaming?

Christine Brownell
I have loved games from the time I was really young, but it was while I was in college that it became my goal to one day become a game designer or artist. After a couple years of working in the graphics field, I decided I needed to go for my dream - I left my job in the printing industry and began working as a QA Tester at Blizzard Entertainment. From there, I was able to work my way up onto the design team.

What are your favorite games?

Christine Brownell
I love the Zelda series of games, from classic NES to Wind Waker. Recently I picked up We Love Katamari, and it's just as fun as the original - I'm hooked. I'm also a big DDR fan!

What were you doing before Auto Assault?

Christine Brownell
Before I moved to Colorado to work on Auto Assault, I was a Quest Designer at Blizzard Entertainment, where I worked on World of Warcraft.

Geek Woman
Your background is impressive. You've worked on some top games. What does NetDevil do in all this?

Christine Brownell
NetDevil is my employer and the developer of Auto Assault. We're based just outside of Denver, Colorado.
