First, a bit of an overview for the sake of those of you who have never played Empire Earth. In a nutshell, the game chronicles the human experience through history. Players must lead their civilizations through 15 epochs of time. Starting in the Stone Age (around 10,000 B.C.) your nation will progress through the Copper, Bronze, and Iron ages. The game's timeline continues through our current digital age, up to the "Synthetic Age" set between 2130 and 2230 A.D.

In this skirmish, I started in the Stone Age with a bunch of citizens and a 10,000 year old city center.

As time continues, the units, buildings, and weapons progress with you. Not only do you need to be concerned about technology and infrastructure, but you must pay attention to your neighbors, who are also trying to be the greatest nation in the world. The best way I can describe it in terms of older games is that it is Civilization meets Command & Conquer. As with any good RTS, you need to be both a great micromanager and a mighty field-hardened general.

Many key features have been developed into Empire Earth II. These developments could make it a winner among casual gamers as well as professional RTS players.
