Re-introducing An Old Friend

The Commodore 64 (C64) was the best gaming machine available to many folks during the 1980s. Intellivision, Atari, and Colecovision consoles had hit their limits, and the Commodore stole the hearts of gaming and computer enthusiasts. The Commodore was a fantastic hybrid between a computer and a game console. You could program in BASIC, or pick up the joystick for gaming and enjoy some of the best graphics of the day. Best of all, it worked on your home television screen. With such functionality and ease of use, over 30 million Commodore 64 units were sold.

I remember my first Commodore VIC 20 (the predecessor of the C64) and the great arcade games I could play on it. No longer did I need to go out and spend my quarters at the arcade - the fun was in my living room. When the C64 came out, my family upgraded to the best at the time. We also got the Commodore 1541 external 5.25" disk drive. It weighed a ton and got really hot, but it was much better than that slow Datasette (cassette tape) drive. You could even make your own double sided diskettes with an ordinary hole punch - if you put the hole in the right spot, of course!

If this intro has been an enjoyable trip down memory lane, then have we got the toy for you. The folks at Mammoth Toys thought that it was time to let the C64 rise out of the ashes, like a gaming phoenix, ready to play another day. Take a look as we rediscover the Commodore 64 through the eyes of the C64 DTV - 30 vintage games in the palm of your hand.
