He Hath Fashioned Hell For The Inquisitive - Saint Aurelius Augustine

Welcome to Union Aerospace Corporation's Mars research outpost. At this highly advanced science station you will see the latest technology through the gameplay of a ten year old shooter. You, a nameless grunt, are sent with administrator Elliot Swann and his bodyguard to investigate the oddities and accidents occurring at this crucial experimental outpost run by Dr. Malcolm Betruger. During the course of your investigation, you will end up seeing some of the UAC most incredible discoveries - including the fusion technology and biology, ancient Martian ruins and Hell itself.

Explore ancient Martian ruins.
If this sounds at all vaguely familiar, it is because Doom 3 is supposed to be the loose retelling of the first two games, Doom and Doom 2. Besides relatively similar plots, you will encounter many of the same foes including zombies, Hell Knights, Imps and Revenants. Played again through a first person perspective, this 20+ hour shooter attempts to provide a more Sci-Fi/Horror film feel to the classic action game. But dramatic in-engine cutscenes, dim lighting and pop-out-of-nowhere demons still don't provide the expected feeling of terror. Additionally, the failure to implement now standard FPS devices such as leaning and alternate fire modes make this beautiful game feel a little shallow.

Déjà vu' all over again.
