Fall Stompfest 2003: Forget About the Indy 500!

Introduction

Known more than anything else for the Indy 500, this past weekend Indianapolis, Indiana, was the venue for a truly great LAN party event. As THG has espoused many a time in the past, there are all kinds of LAN parties. Each one is different in many ways, and these differences are what make each LAN party its own unique and fun event. We are always amazed at how different LAN groups find new and exciting ways to change the event mix to create unique LAN events.
"Stompfest" has been around a long time and continues to be one of the backbone parties (from what we have been told) that binds the LAN party community together in the state of Indiana. Here, Indiana has quite an active LAN party community hosting many events year from a variety of different groups; since this LAN party community is thriving so well, it will likely be only a matter of time before one of these events breaks away and morphs into a much larger event.
Now, Stompfest is what we would consider a little above average in size with approximately 225 players per event at their current venue. The word has gotten around about what a great event Stompfest is, and most Stompfest events are sold out with over 60 people on the waiting list for a seat, just in case someone happened to cancel.
From our discussions with Rebo (The Stompfest Event Organizer) it would appear that Stompfest will be moving out of the friendly confines of the Northside Knights of Columbus Club in the near future to expand the event to accommodate additional attendees. This most likely will be a good thing, since after you read this article you might decide you want to attend Stompfest in the future.
